Through this activity, students will understand that music is all around them and is involved in their everyday lives. Students will create their own tambourine after reading "I Got the Rhythm."
Students will form a connection between music and drawing. They will listen to clips of songs and will use artistic measures to express how they feel.
Children will create a fall tree using paint with Q-tips as well as their handprint.
Students will learn, through the book "Ish," to embrace their own work and be okay with their mistakes. Each student will crumple up a piece of computer paper and then paint watercolors on the outside. The paper will then be flattened, and the process will be repeated as many times as possible with multiple colors. Once this is finished, it will create a beautiful and unique watercolor art piece.
Children will be introduced to a variety of musical instruments in order to broaden their experience of music and sounds. Children will produce sounds with their own body parts in order to create a rhythm.
Towards the beginning of the semester, we had the opportunity to explore 2D portraits. During this activity, we were encouraged to use oil pastels in order to draw a self-portrait.
Part of the course is dedicated to teaching arts integration. In these lessons, art activities are directly connected with another content area, such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The lesson is taught through art as opposed to explicit academic instruction.
I have had an absolutely incredible experience in the class. I have made an effort to make the most of every experience so that I am able to challenge myself to become the best educator I can be.
Children need to have art incorporated into their everyday lives. By reading a book and doing an artistic activity afterwards, the children will have a dose of literature and art.
As time progresses, digital media is becoming more and more popular in the classroom setting. Students can make videos, create animated movies, or use any form of media to share information or express their feelings about a given topic. In this class, we were challenged to create a digital storytelling project that would share our point of view and answer a specific question.
On Thursday, September 15th, I had the opportunity to view a performance by the International Dance Academy (IDA). The Clemson University Cultural Ambassadors hosted this event, and as a result of attending, I gained a greater appreciation not only for performing arts but also for Mexican culture. While viewing the performance, I was able to evaluate the space used by the dancers, one of the primary elements of dance; focusing on this specific component further allowed me to analyze the artistic effectiveness of the performance.
